the Weirdfielders

The second weekend i was at Ray's the lot from Lincoln, all the Weirfielders came up and we had a glorious weekend. there was 9 of us, not including Ray's 2 greyhounds, we camped out together and ran the center during the day. and we were damn good at it too! it was one of the best weekends of my trip, those guys are amazing, and we all got on ever so well. i'm gonna mis them more then anyone!

Ray Jackson's place

After Hessilhead i headed over to Ray Jackson's place, Lower Moss Wood, near Chester. i was lucky enough while i was there to go on a soft Badger Release in Wales, which was an amazing thing to be part of. i had a nice time, though i was only there 2 1/2 weeks, Ray's a lovely guy and runs a cute little rescue in the woods. really enjoyed myself.

more Hessilhead!

this is just a fraction of all the amazing animals i was lucky enough to get great shots of!

Good Ol' Scotland

Didn't spend much time away from Hessilhead whilst in scotland but there's a lot of beauty all around. not at all hard to find! even made a few new friends :)

Hessilhead Wildlife Rescue Trust

spent over 5 weeks in tge woods in southern Scotland at a wonderful place called Hessilhead wildlife Rescue with some of the most devoted wildlife rehabbers i've ever met- Andy and Gay Christie who took in their first wildlife casualty back in 1970! these two are a well of knowledge and i feel honored to have been able to spend time with them.

While at Hessilhead i did everything from learning to mend broken wings and legs to dressing wounds, feeding and cleaning up after every type of British wildlife you can think of...going to rescue foxes in snares and swans out of gardens then working to get them fit and setting them on their way...hang feeding concussed dear and even sometimes butchering them. i learned more rehabbing techniques then you can shake a stick at but only a tiney fraction of what there is to know. opened a huge dore into the life of wildlife rehab. and got me more excited about it then ever!
though sometimes it was hard work and long hours in cold, wet and very muddy conditions i wouldn't have had it any other way. i really came away with a lot from there.
